Merry Christmas

There was a lot of fun to be had for Christmas today! We had G-man's parents over for the Eve and they stayed all night. It was lovely. I do, however, miss my parents in Arizona and wish like heck I could hug em' for my ultimate Christmas present. Absence makes the heart grow fonder... or whatever. I don't know if that makes me feel any better. But, I'm thankful for our little family of 3 here that are happy and healthy....except for the pneumonia I'm getting over. Hope you and yours had a great one!

Some After School Fun

You could call them the 3 Stooges after the way they behaved today, but they had a good time. The squirrel is with her friend and former nieghbor from our previous house out here. Oh, and her friends' brother too. I think I'm getting this sick funk that is going around. I can't get warm to save my life because of the chills. And I took my temp earlier today so I know that was a true sign of something coming on. I hope I get a mild case of it and that the whole family doesn't get it. The office is passing it back and forth, so I guess it's my turn. I have an interview with the Police Department for the Dispatch position I put in for about a month ago. I hope it goes well. I just want to find a job that I like and stay there. It's of course a state job so it would have good benefits and it pays pretty well. We'll see.

I bet a lot of you thought I was high maintenance...

You Are Medium Maintenance
You aren't as hard to deal with as some girls
But you aren't the most laid back chick either
You're easy to deal with 90% of the time, but watch out for that 10%!
If the guy you are with has good intentions, then calm down a little
But if he's really screwing up, don't waste your breath - move on :-)
Are You High Maintenance?

Happy 10th to US!!!

You know what? Lot's of people doubted we'd even make it past 10 days. Then, it was 10 months.. now it's 10 years! Tomorrow, the 4th of May; we will be celebrating our 10 years of marriage. Like everyone else, we've had our little bumps in the road. But, through it all... love has found a way. We celebrate not only the 10 years together, but a beautiful 8 year old daughter and a home we've been blessed with. To top it off, a new life in a new city with new friends. Thank you God... we owe you our lives.

It started out, a chance meeting in Phoenix working for Southwest Airlines in 1995. We married after only dating 5 months. I was 19 and he was 31 when we met. We had a beautiful little intimate wedding in Louisiana where his family lives and was held in the beautiful house that his brother and his wife lived. Then, for the honeymoon... it was nothing but the best. We went back to his parents house and ordered pizza from Papa John's. Then, off to bed in the trailer that belonged to my new parents-in-law that sits in their driveway. Might have been a few steps behind a trip to Hawaii, but it was bliss for us. To all of those who believed in us.... "Thanks". To those that didn't.... Mark--- he he he. Who knew? Right?

Yeah springtime and Happy Easter!!

The Azalea's are blooming, the dogwood trees are flowering... and the magnolia trees are looking beautiful. All the signs of the south. This was taken just up the road a bit on a beautiful spring afternoon. What more could you ask for? Isn't she beautiful?!?!?!

What a precious gift!

Well, this is our new house. Well, half of it. The plants are starting to bloom and we're finding out just what kind of trees and plants we have in the front and back yard. We've got everything from Azalea's to dogwood trees. And some really pretty foliage that I am not sure the name of, but it's just lovely. There are little white flowers coming up through the lawn in the front. I'm sure they're some kind of weed if you want to be technical about it, but they're pretty and I'm not mowing them down. This is the squirrel too with my dog Elvis. They're both 8 years old. Well, Elvis is closer to 7 but we won't talk about the age a dog is when he's old. He's still my puppy. That's one happy kid. Keep praying for my Gramps please! He's not eaten in nearly 10 days now and they're unable to get him a feeding tube to his stomach for many medical reasons that I can't type. But, just know that your prayers would be appreciated! God bless.

It's all coming together!!!

Yeah, so the new house is coming along really very nicely. Our new furniture for the living room (couch, love seat, ottoman, 2 end tables) is being delivered on Saturday while I'm at work and G is at home. I love coming home to stuff being done. So after that, I'll put up the rest of the pictures around the house. Yesterday we had the carpet replaced in our room and the squirrel's room. They look awesome. So last night we moved our bed in and got her set up in her room. I almost forgot, we're getting a new chest of drawers in our room too with the living room stuff. I can't wait because for now, things are folded in a lovely pile on our vanity in the bedroom. I'm needing to put these things away and right now, there's no where to put them. I'm getting a bit older and need my ducks in a row more than before. We're hoping to have a house warming party this next weekend after this one. Family and maybe a girl friend of mine from work. We're registered at Bed bath and Beyond. No we're not! I'm just kidding. That sure was fun though when you get married you get to do that. Oh, and for a baby. But since it's neither... we'll have to buy ourselves things. Well, more things.
Well, I gotta go get ready for work here pretty soon and I guess I'm going to break down and get some crutches. My dr said my foot is never gonna heal since I'm on it all the time. So, if I don't get the crutches to take off the weight I'm putting on it.... I'll be hobbling around for the rest of my days. How great is that? I really just need one extra arm for at work so I can walk with the crutches and the other hand for carrying charts and stuff. I'll work it out somehow I guess.
I gotta get an update on my Gramps. Yesterday was supposed to be the day he got the tube in his stomach to get him some nourishment. He'd not eaten for I think 9 days. Please pray for his comfort in whatever happens with him. I am saddened to think of him hurting so much. Thanks for your prayers ahead of time! Chow.

Happy Valentines Day!!! Late....

So yesterday was Valentines Day. G man sent me flowers to my work as you can see in the photo, they're really pretty. The pink Gerber daisy on the left is my favorite flower. Then the purple iris on top and some other daisies mixed in here and there. The card on the right is the same card he picked out a couple years ago. He does that all the time and doesn't know it. I think it's kinda cute. He also gave me a box of assorted chocolates which- bless his forgetful heart... I don't like. I really am not fond of surprises of any kind which means I really hate biting into a piece of chocolate that has something in it that I hate. I end up wasting half the box since I don't mix my fruit flavors with my chocolate- it's a waste of good chocolate. I did give him direction this year to get me Ghirradeli chocolates and that he can get them at Target. The long word must've scared him since... if you know him he has the attention span of a knat. Anywho, to the left is the card I got him. The little girl is on a skateboard. I used to skateboard back in the day when I still had control over my center of gravity. It escapes me now, and I miss it. Also got him a small box of truffles and a stuffed bear that looks like a little devil. (fitting he he he) Anyway, the three of us (our little squirrel and us) went to a place called Shogun for some Japanese food. They cook it right in front of you and set grease on fire and all that. We'd been before, but squirrel had not. It was really cool to see her expressions when the guy made a "volcano" out of an onion and made it look like firecrackers were going off. It really looked like it was errupting. Then we went and rented a movie and came home to get her to bed for school in the morning.

My court date the other day went well. The ghetto chick made a fool of herself showing up in some kind of flannel checkered brownish PJ lookin' bottoms and a T-shirt. When I worked with her, she dressed better there... and all we did was worked at a bus yard driving kids. Let me emphasize though, she did NOT drive any kids. She was a monitor. The ones that are to help keep the kids in line. Perfect person for that job.....NOT So, later after I've woken up a little.... I'll come back and give the scoop on the whole ASSault thing and what went down. I hope your Wednesday's are off to a good start.

My only day off this week is Wednesday people!!

So I'm off tomorrow, and since it's my only day off.... I've got a "to do" list about a friggin' mile long. I've made sure these things are all things that are for ME though! That way, I'm not bitter by the time I go back for work on Thursday. My plan of attack is.... 1. Mail the bills 2. Go to Talbot's and pay that bill since it's a secret one I have... and it's due tomorrow! 3. Return the scrubs to the uniform place and get a smaller size since the ones I got were hugemungus. 4. Get a new pair of either tennis shoes or nursing shoes since the pretty pink ones are not as comfortable as they were thought to have been. (the back up plan if I don't find any I like is to just get some expensive nice in-soles and put them in my pink ropers) 5. Go to the bank 6. Go to the doctor since I've been sick for the last week and it's in my chest now with coughing all night... boooo hooo 7. Take the squirrel to see Nanny McPhee or whatever the flip you call it at 2:30. (I'll get her out of school a little early to see it) 8. Watch Young and the Restless since I never get to see it now 9. Look into buying a new cell phone because the flip phone I have sucks with it's reception and I don't hear the tone of any of the rings.
So, that will about fill the day. I have to go to court on Monday to speak on behalf of the state of Texas against this bitch that assaulted me back in December. So, the only day off I have next week will be Monday... and I'll be in court. It'll be short and sweet though. It's not gonna take long to see that she is clearly a psycho that needs to be fined a lot of money and immediately placed in a behavioral health clinic. Maybe I could get some money out of it too.
Today was pretty filled to the gills with a variety of trauma's and drama queens. I've officially nominated Tuesdays as "Nursing Home Day". Over half of our patients were born sometime between 1912 and 1925. The others were major motor vehicle accidents including a pregnant woman who they got stable and then rushed to OB ICU.... (not a good sign) Then we had the 5 ambulances that came in all at the same time with one big family including 2 small children. This had been a major motor vehicle accident in which their vehicle had flipped over several times.
Then, there was the spitting HIV positive, mentally unstable (to say the least) patient. This dear heart came in after being gathered out of traffic from running around head butting a few cars and darting through the intersection causing near misses. (very clearly high out of her mind) This 115 pound winner took 12 EMT professionals and nurses to hold her down in order to get a line (IV) started on her and strap her down with the leather straps that they very rarely have to get out. She had already busted through the regular ones that normally do the trick. And, since she had been spitting at every nurse or Dr. that came near her.... they had to put a mask on her face. Well, she was very crafty with that one too. She found a way to work that sucker off of her face with her tongue...within 3 seconds! While it was impressive, it was hard to decide what to put over her face so as not to suffocate her. Because you know, we don't want to do that..... too much paperwork. he he he
After Ms. Busy was strapped down, she was then moved to a private room in the ER because she was also very vocal and at least this room had a door to muffle the screeches and such. In this room, they gave her a LARGE dose of a tranquilizer. A good one people! One that you don't get unless you're in the mental state that she was in. She was on Meth and Cocaine to begin with. Oh, and marijuana too. Well, the tranquilizer did nothing much at all. It may as well been sugar water. About 1 hour after being in that room, without warning or permission to go to the bathroom with an escort... she shit her pants. Well, her pants and the bed. So, the whole side of the ER in which she resided STUNK for a while since the nurses decided to let her sit in her own shit for a while. Well, you know... not on purpose of course, they were really very busy. It resembled the stinch of a dog or cat being in heat! It was that offensive! I could've done without that added bonus. Other than that, it was a great day full of lots of stuff to see and learn.
Please pray that the ones that went to ICU for one reason or another are doing well, and that the unborn baby made it! Oh, and the mother's ankle was COMPLETELY broken and hanging on basically by way of her ligaments and skin. So, after the surgery and pins that I'm sure they had to put in it... and physical therapy she'll have to indure... I pray she'll do well.
Good night.

Can we say, 2 inner ear infections?

So yeah, you're looking at a shoe. This is half of the pair of shoes I bought soley for the ER department. The tennis shoes just weren't cutting it style wise, and all the other girls in there had some pretty neat shoes, so I had to too right?! So, I went to the closest western store here and got me a really cool pair of Roper's that are pink as you can tell and are ostrach skinned. I'm sure it's fake though cause I only paid like 40 dollars for them. Between them and the pink purse and pink monkey heart socks, I was stylin' today. I got some really good compliments on the shoes today when I wore them for the first time. Then, sent them on a wild goose chase when they asked me where I got them. Do you really think I want a bunch of other chickies walking around in my department with the same shoes on? I mean really... we already have to wear these BORING kaki scrubs. I'm trying to talk management into approving the scrubs that are Dickies with just a little bit of camoflauge for trimming and at the top left by your shoulder as just a little decorative logo of the company's brand. Hopefully soon we can get that okay'd.
Anyway, on to bigger and better things. I got a really awesome schedule. I was origionally going to get stuck with a shift like 3p-1130p everyday with thurs/fri off. Now, it's a bunch of different shifts that are a lot closer to the hours of a family oriented person. I am so amazed how things just fall into place when you place your faith in God's hands. In church this Sunday, it was just a lot of reminders of how much He can do for us if we are just patient enough for Him to do his work. We're just usually too quick to react as humans. But, I thought surely... my trainer would take into consideration that if she gives me a schedule where I can see the Squirrel and my husband more... then I'm more apt to stay. And, she seem to be a really nice girl anyway.

I've learned so much in this little period of time that it's just amazing to me! I do have a really funny story that I have been considering sharing with y'all. However, it is something that could offend some readers. So, if you are offended easily... kindly click on the little X at the top right hand of your screen and have a nice rest of the day/night ... whatever the case may be. I say this because it's just too funny to keep to myself any longer. I've been too exhausted when I get home from work that it takes everything in me to get dinner together, make sure my scrubs are washed and ironed for the next day, grocery shop for stuff I want/need to make dinner with, make sure the kid does her homework without withholding info from me. That's her latest thing. Well, I'm just the person to break her of that little habit.

So, on to the story... there's a gentleman in Trauma 9 the other day that I needed to go back and verify all his information with. No sooner did I get back there with my scrubs on (they all ASSume that if you're in scrubs that you're a nurse) and this guy starts telling me all his medical problems he's currently having. I kindly interrupted him without offending him and advised him that I was just there to verify his name, address, birthdate, insurance info, marital status, etc. He then goes on to tell me that he was really feeling like he's gonna puke. So, I got a puke bucket for him and continued to attempt to try to get his information. After the false alarm for the puke, he had to share with me that he had this problem for the last year and just now thought he probably ought to get it checked out. (do you think so Einstein) Whatever. So, I continued with the broken record method asking him his SSN and etc. He insisted to fully inform me of all his ailments, right down to the fact that "half his penis hurts real bad" and that he needs some pain medicine". I advised John Doe that I was unable to help him with that particular issue today, but if he could please consider getting me the answers that I need, I could get him a nurse that might could help him with his penis issues. This was all said with a straight face y'all! It's not to say that I got around the other side of the door and about lost it laughing so hard over what just happened. I shared it with the girls I work with and none of them seemed surprised. We all did wonder however, if a penis is one "unit" (for lack of a better word), then how does just part of it hurt? Is that anatomically possible? I asked my husband about it and he said he's pretty sure the guy was just a "titty baby" and wanted to get attention he wasn't getting at home. God bless the poor man with half a throbbing penis. What's next? LOL!

It's a girl!!

Heck no! I'm not pregnant. It's the truck... the one we got this weekend. We haven't named her yet, but I'm open to suggestions. My Probe that I had a while ago- well her name was Roxy. I'm not sure what this one should be. But for sure, she's a girl. Work was long today. I'm tired. I went to bed late last night. Not a smart thing to do when trying to learn a new job. So, I'll be in bed early tonight. My trainer is getting sick. I really hope I don't get anything from her. I've been really careful with had washing and stuff. Well, I gotta go get a new iron to iron my scrubs. Seems our puppy chewed up the cord on the iron I had. I'll take it out of her ration of food. lol!
Happy Monday to y'all! Chow.....

Nurse!!! Nurse!!!!!

Well, so the story goes something like this...
I'm walking around the ER trying to find the ice machine and the cups that I'd been shown on my "tour" of the ER back on day one. Well, it wasn't really day one, it was the day I had the interview and got hired. So anyway, I am walking down the hall and I hear this really loud, "NURSE!!! NURSE!!" I'm NOT a nurse, YET. So, I just keep going. She see's that I keep going and screams, "Ma'am"! I am one of those so at this point I had to respond. I turnded back around and went into the room where this loud voice was coming from to find a young lady in the bed there. I asked her what she needed and she says, "Quick! Can you untie me?" Hmmmm... so I am pretty sure even though I haven't yet been briefed on the ER's rules on untying a patient without a nurses' consent... but I was pretty sure she had to be tied at the wrists to the bed for some good reason. So, I said "Oh honey, I need to get the nurse for you then because I'm not a nurse". She said, "I don't care who the hell you are, now untie me NOW!" Aparently our little friend here was visiting us for psychiatric reasons. So, I just said you know what- I'll get you someone right away! And off I went like the wind! Interesting stuff goes on in there. I thought, well oh yeah! This will be pretty cool being an "Admitting Clerk". Dude, no! It's like that and then some. The job description itself is like 4 pages long y'all! So, we are the ones that get to do different jobs different days. One day we may be in scrubs sitting in the ER at the front door greeting people and taking their very basic information just to get them in and put a bracelet on them. Or, we can be the one in scrubs in the ER who go into your room and ask for your address to be verified along with all the other stuff like your social, phone numbers, emergency contacts information, living will info etc...
Or, we could be in the actual admitting department where we have to wear skirts and nice blouses. There, we admit the patients to actual hospital rooms for a stay that's at least a night, and also schedule patients for procedures, financial assistance, insurance billing, etc... So, that pretty much sums up what I do there. I love it!!! It's a really cool job, and I thought I would maybe not be able to handle "life in the ER" but it's awesome! I've yet to have my stomach turn and I even got to hear the worlds loudest and longest puker! It was impressive. I think the poor guy literally vomitted for about 3 hours. They finally got it under control somehow, but it was awful. The flu is going around and is taking people out like crazy! I've seen lots of things so far. Drug overdoses, domestic violence victims who got the snot beat out of them and even ended up with a colapsed lung, car accidents, 18 wheeler that rolled over and the poor guys neck broke, and all kind of respiratory things. The guy who broke his neck made it by the way! He ended up in surgery for a long time but he's still with us. So, as you can see- I have a really fast paced job that I know will keep me busy and want to stay there for a good long time. Also, since I know I can handle the ER.... maybe I'll be a nurse there whenever I finally get to be at least an LVN.
On another subject, it's like 77 for a high here today and it's supposed to be only 47 tomorrow. The wind is blowing like crazy and my head is killing me from the stupid barometric pressure. I think I caught it in time though before it became a bad one.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow too. Oh, and we got a new truck. We traded in the Xterra that we had and got a Chevy Colorado. The payments are way better and the insurance is less. We really like it too. It's a 2WD, black, 2 door, 4 cylinder, cruise control. No CD player though. I wish I had noticed that before we bought it. I'm sure we can put one in one day down the road though.
I hope your weekend is off to a good start too. I'm gonna go watch some CMT and relax on the couch with the puppy. Our squirrel is at a birthday party for a girl that's in her class room. She's been there for a couple of hours and I already miss the little booger.
Chow!

Time to fill the house right??!

Yeah, I know that it looks pretty foo foo. I really like it though. This is not exactly the one that I've chosen, but it's kind of close. The sofa, chair and a half, and ottoman is at Ashley's furniture. The one I am looking at is more of an oriental feel/look. Not too over powering though. The style itself is different than this picture. Anyway, it's been fun looking at the different stores for stuff. The first place we went to was Ashley Furniture, and the couch that's there right as you walk in is the one I want! The first house we looked at is the one I want. Are we noticing a trend here? Seems lately since I hit 30 that my tastes are changing. Anyway, gotta go spend time with the fam. We're in Shreveport tonight but will be back to the grind tomorrow by noon. Chow...

Friday the 13th sucks!

To top off the fact that it's Friday the 13th., I think it's a full moon too! Oh, well. I hope next week goes better on the job hunting. Wish me luck. And, have a good weekend.

Home sweet HOME y'all!!!!!

Yeeee haw! We got it! It's ours. I don't know the details, like when we get to move in and all that. I just know they took our offer, and we're pre-approved. Life is sweet. Oh, did I mention... I LOVE THIS FRIGGIN' HOUSE!
Gotta garden area that's huge out back and stuff called grass and trees! Whooo hoooo! Hope you and yours are doing well! Oh, and the puppy there to the left is Daisy. She's the most recent permanent family member. We had to get rid of the other puppy that was just before her. Katie was her name and dumb was her game. No, really- she was just a terrible dog. Pee'd everywhere, etc. So isn't this border/aussie mix a cuttie!?

Sunday, January 08, 2006

This is it y'all!!! I'm gonna have to get this house!

So, of course the first one is of the kitchen. It's got tiles on the walls bordering the countertops. Every other one has some really cool decorated shiny tile. It's really neat. Then here we have the house from the side view a little. The shutters are black. It's very popular around here, and luckily I happen to love that too. The front has really open windows on the corner there and on the inside, that room has wooded floors and built in book shelves.

The next red room here is the master. It's got a vanity with a beautiful antique looking morror. The color in the picture is not exactly what it looks like, but it is a very rich red. I'm loving that too.

This next one is just a straight on shot of the house. It's winter, so of course all the grass is dead. We just love the look and the double garage.

This is the squirrel's room. In fact, she is in that cabinet on the bottom- hiding while I took the picture and didn't want her Uncle Lane to see her.
Well, hope you like it like we do. We're going to start seeing about all that we need to do to get it. YEAHHHH. Hope there's not a bid on it already. Wish us luck!

What a couple of faces huh??

What a couple of cuties huh? This is my squirrel and her friend from next door at our house in A's room. We got her that pink mesquito net looking thing that's Barbie for a Christmas present. It's really cute. Is it bad that I want one now?? Well, hope y'alls week went well. Mine's been every bit of interesting. Chow.
